Summer of IT

Bye Bye Under Eye as concealer, Face Disk, Je Ne C'est Quoi, Bye Bye Pores finishing powder

It’s that time of year!  The sun is shining, it’s warm out and we are using self tanners and bronzers to get that glow without the harmful effects of the sun.  I don’t personally self tan, but I’ve been tempted by a few products to see how they look.

But we’re not here to talk about that!  I’m here to give you my review on the IT Cosmetics Vitality Color Collection!  The TSV will be on July 27th, so keep your DVRs tuned in.  As mentioned in my previous post, this collection includes the Vitality Face Disk, Jumbo Luxe Face Brush, Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer in a jumbo size that will probably last you all year, dual sided concealer brush, and the Lip Stain in Je Ne C’est Quoi.

After receiving my kit, I was excited to try the face disk.  I have been use the Bye Bye Under Eye for a while now, and it is one of my favorite concealers.  I was particularly excited about this collection because of the dual sided concealer brush, which allows you to get an airbrushed finish.   The larger end of the brush is perfect for the larger areas of your face, or using the Bye Bye Under Eye as an all over foundation as I did in this picture.  With this product, a very  little goes a way.

The brushes in this kit, like all IT Cosmetics brushes are easily worth more than the entire kit.  The Jumbo Luxe Face Brush is enormous!  A QVC exclusive, this brush alone retails for $58.  Now I’m not saying I would pay $60 for a brush, but a brush of this size and quality is by far worth $30-40.  Professional quality makeup brushes are expensive, and they last for years.  Brushes are an excellent investment if you are looking to build a collection.  Measuring 8 inches in length, from brush head to handle, the brush itself is immensely dense and silky soft.  It’s about 2.5 inches wide, with thousands of bristles.  I have a similar Tarte powder brush which is 7″ long and 2″ wide.  It’s a great brush as well, but the IT brush is just that much better.  Please note:  The IT Cosmetics foundation brush ($48) is the same brush as the Tarte Airbrush Foundation Brush ($32).  I have both of these and they are identical – given that there are limited brush manufacturers, keep that in mind when shopping for brushes.  The only thing I don’t like is that these brushes are made in China.  Also in this kit is the dual sided concealer brush, which I love.  This brush allows you to airbrush your concealer on in the small undereye area, as well as other areas of your face.  The small end is the same as the airbrush side of the retractable concealer brush (which I do not own) and it’s soft and plush.  I love a big fluffy brush like this because it really makes the concealer look flawless.  Before I got this brush, I used a BE soft focus eye brush which was also wonderful.

The face disk includes a large matte bronzer, and a smaller blush, in a bright peach pink, as well as a beautiful pink toned highlighter.  This is a great tool for your makeup wardrobe, as you do amazing things with a little creative bronzer and highlighter!  Want to make a double chin disappear?  Put some bronzer under you chin and on your jawline.  Want nicer cheekbones?  Place highlighter just above your cheekbone, and bronzer just below before adding blush to the apples of your cheeks.  blend this well, and you will look like you have a slimmer face.  As someone with a rather full face and too many chins, I use this trick every day and I get the nicest compliments.

All in all I’m very happy with this kit.  I also own the IT Cosmetics My Sculped Face, which is a great contouring kit in a book format, but I prefer the Face Disk which has bigger pans and is easier to use.  I still use My Sculpted Face when I need a lighter highlighter or a darker contour, and the combination works well.  The great thing about the IT products is they play well together, and you can build a look with 2-3 items easily.

I have already reviewed the lip stains, so please check them out here!

Coming soon – The IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Review!  I have been waiting to get this, and hopefully I will get my hot little hands on it soon.  I’ve been hearing rave reviews, and I want to try it for my self and share with you.

Happy glossing!

Hot of the presses!  Bobbi Brown has a TSV starting tonight at 9pm PT, Midnight ET!  This is the first Bobbi Brown TSV on QVC since the  Pretty Powerful kits, and it promises to be something special.

Bobbi Brown is known in the industry for her clean, neutral looks and her longstanding history as a makeup artist and frankly, teacher.  She insists on beauty at any age, and produces classic, elegant kits and products.

This kit contains:

  • Sheer Pink Color Cheek Tint, in a glowing pink
  • Pretty in Pink Lip Gloss, a sheer pink
  • Pink Lemonade Shimmer Lip Gloss, a soft pink with pearl
  • Pink Bellini Long-Wear Cream Shadow, a shimmery neutral pink
  • Black Mascara
  • Hydrating Eye Cream
  • And an face palette in your choice of Porcelain,Sand,Beige,Natural,Honey or Warm Almond.

I regret not getting the Pretty Powerful kits when they were on, but I have picked up a few of the pieces.  Bobbi’s eyeshadows are eyeliners are amazing!

I’m tempted!  What about you?  This looks like a nice, fresh kit for summer!  It’s $69.98 and Auto Delivery will ship now and in October.  Or you can order a single shipment.  Don’t forget to use ebates!

Pure Luxury!

As I previously mentioned, the Bare Escentuals Today’s Special Value for November 18th is a gorgeous kit which contains a new exclusive Ready Duo.  I received mine over the weekend, and was able to wear it yesterday.

This Bare Luxury kit contains a TON of stuff for the price, and the biggest challenge is deciding what to wear!  The Ready Duo in The Phenomenon is a great pair, with Golden Iris being a deep amber with a touch of shimmer, and the Azure Irish being a rich lavender.  These were both created specifically to show off my baby blues, and the amber makes them sparkle.  As with all of the Ready shadows, they are creamy and densely pigmented.  While I wore a primer, I have tried them without primers and they last over 8 hours with minimal movement.

The Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliners are a new launch for Bare Escentauls, and one that I in particular and very excited for.  I have been unable to wear their B&B pencil liners int he past because they turn me in to a racoon.  These glide on easily and stay put for the most part.  I am a bit disappointed that I did have some travelling by the end of the day, but they are excellent formulations that you can sharpen as you use the pencil up.  The 10pm is a deep mocha shade, and the Noon is a rich Navy.

The Marvelous Moxie glosses are something of a cross between Buxoms and 100% Natual lipglosses.  While I am not a fan of the 100% Natural, I am a Buxom addict and these are a great addition.  There is a slightly less intense tingle in these plumpers, and a nice vanilla scent.  The Daredevil is perfect for fall, in a rich berry color.  The Wild One is a light peach perfect for day time.

Also included in this kit is the etheral Rose Gold Radiance.  It’s lighter than a blush, and darker than most radiances, so it makes a very pretty heavenly brush.

Rounding out the kit, the holiday brushes with gold handles are softer than most BE brushes in my opinion, and make a nice addition to your sparkle hoard.  They are made to go with the other holiday brush kits seamlessly.

I absolutely love this kit, and can imagine a ton of looks with it.  The ready shadows are bold, but the Golden Iris color can be a very simple day look, or you can punch it up a bit.  This will probably be one of my go to colors for a while.

The preview ordering is still up, so don’t miss out on this great kit!  For $68, you get a duo, 2 liners, 2 glosses, and 2 brushes.  Plus, new collections seasonally.  The kit will be presented on air on November 18th, and I look forward to watching how Leslie & Jessica use the kit, since it always provides me with inspiration.

Happy shopping!

Ho Ho Ho! The HOlidays are here!

If you’re like me, I’ve been overwhelmed with all the holiday newness and it keeps rolling in.  Luckily, there are plenty of sales to take advantage of, and you can slowly build your holiday collection over time.  That said, it’s the time of year when the Auto Delivery selection from QVC becomes overwhelming.  Specifically, Bare Escentauls is offering the first auto delivery Today’s Special Value that contains a Ready Shadow Compact.

I got your attention with that did I?

But wait!  There’s more!  Not only do you get a brand new, QVC exclusive Ready Duo in Golden Irish & Azure Iris, you also get two more brand spanking new products that have not launched yet.

First, there is the new Round the Clock Eyeliners.  While these are available in the RSVP and Away We Glow holiday kits, there are not yet available elsewhere. I  am super excited about these because if you are like me, I cannot use the B&B eyeliners because they are quite emollient and drip down my face.  My current addiction to UD 24/7 liners and Mally liners might be broken if these are anything like they promise.  In this  kit you get not one, but two liners – 10pm, a mocha color and Noon, a navy.

Next, we have a brand new lip gloss called Marvelous Moxie.  Leslie has been teasing us with this product on Facebook for a couple of months, but it will be great to add a new formulation to my collection.  I love my Buxom glosses, but I am not a fan of the 100% Natural Lipglosses.  I hope these hold up!  You will be getting two glosses, Wild Peach and Daredevil.

Let’s round out the kit with Rose Gold Radiance, a take on Rose Radiance with more shimmer for those holiday parties; you also get a shadow brush, a face brush and a bag.

Oh la la!

The best part, is that the TSV price is only $49.98 on early ordering and – there is Sleazy Easy Pay available, making this kit a bit over $20 (3 payments) which is easy for me to absorb; I will get off my butt 2 days a week and I’ve more than paid for that by not paying for parking.  You will also get new kits in April, July and October with new colors, to round out your READY collection.

Considering that you get a shadow duo, 2 liners, 2 glosses, an AOFC AND brushes, it’s a steal!

I can’t wait to get mien and share more with you!

Another day to glow!

If you’re like me, and you love kits, you can’t pass up an Auto Delivery option on QVC. Earlier this summer, I purchased the tarte Glow Your Way to Gorgeous kit from QVC (still available as a single kit here) and now we have some news on the next installment!

The October installment, pictured at right, will contain:

  • Maracuja Concealer (which will be sold on it’s own at QVC starting at the end of this month)
  • LipSurgence Lip Luster in Delighted, a warm peachy pink
  • Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Charisma, a golden apricot
  • Cream Shadow in Deep Sage
  • SmolderEyes Waterproof Amazonian Clay liner in Charcoal
  • Lights Camera Lashes
  • Double ended liner and shadow brush
  • finishing powder brush
  • Quilted Cosmetics Bag

Set to be delivered in early Januray, the last auto-delivery will contain:

  • Maracuja Concealer (which will be sold on it’s own at QVC starting at the end of this month)
  • LipSurgence Lip Luster in Obsession, a dark pink wine
  • Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Dazzled, a pale pink
  • SmolderEyes Waterproof Amazonian Clay liner in Brown
  • Cream Shadow in Pink Champagne
  • Lights Camera Lashes
  • Double ended liner and shadow brush
  • finishing powder brush
  • Quilted Cosmetics Bag

Jealous?  I can’t WAIT to get mine!  Tarte makes some of the most fantastic kits around.  I am collecting the blushes, and I have been wanting the powder brush for a while.

Speaking of SmolderEyes, it’s almost time for holiday gift shopping giving right?  Well Sephora has a beauty of a tarte kit on sale right now.  This limited edition kit has some colors I haven’t seen before (unless they renamed them) in:

  • Golden Beige
  • Moss
  • Violet
  • Espresso (which bears a striking resemblance to the brown above but well…)
  • Smoke
  • Golden Black

$39 for six pencils makes them $6.50 each!  A steal in anyone’s mind.  I ordered mine, did you?

Happy shopping!

Fall in to this!

Get your selves ready beauties!  August and September are going to be busy months for makeup newness.

You already saw the Bare Escentuals shows this past weekend.  Well hold on to your hats!  Today is the pre-sale of the Smashbox TSV.  If you’re a Smashbox fan, I’ve been told you shouldn’t miss it!  I’m still on the fence, what do YOU think?

Smashbox Ready For Your Close Up

  • Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder – I haven’t tried the Halo yet, but people that have seem to love it.
  • Eye shadow quad in On Stage.  A similar trio pictured at right

  • Red Carpet Radiance Palette (MatteFlushShimmerFlushMatteRaspberryShimmerRaspberryShimmerQuartz)

  • Lip glosses in Hot Shot, a shimmery pink, and Idol, a rosy plum
  • Waterproof Shadow Liner to Go chubby pencil in Luminous Fig, a chocolate plum that looks more brown than the tarte Fig EmphaEyes that came in a recent TSV.
  • Halo Baby Buki Brush

It is a bit of a pricy TSV at $74.94 and I’m still on the fence,  But when you look at the retail cost for Halo ($59) and the Red Carpet palette $42, you are already beyond hte TSV.  Add in the other pieces and the retail value is well over $100.  I”ve seen and read many reviews by other beauty bloggers, and it seems that if you are in to Smashox, these TSVs are not to be missed!

September 9th Laura Gellar is having a TSV but she’s keeping it pretty hush hush for now.  The Insider says it’s a 6 piece Bake Sale Collection, so I might have to skip it with my other collections but we’ll see as soon as we get pictures!  I have been falling in love with my Laura Gellar Vanilla Nudes kits, and the eyeshadows are to die for!  They are the most pigmented, beautiful things I’ve seen n a while.

The big news comes with a Mally TSV later in September.  The Mally Defend Your Beauty Collection brings back the travel size Poreless Face Defender (YAY!) my favorite anti shine weapon.

Also included:

  • **NEW** Face Defender Blushin Pink Perfection.
  • **NEW** Face Defender Highlighter in Gorgois Glow
  • Volumizing Mascara in Black
  • Volumizing Lip Gloss in Flirty
  • Evercolor Automatic Eyeliner in Black Cherry
  • Evercolor Shadow Stick in Violet – I can’t wait to try the shadow stick!  I’ve been eyeing them for a while, and they seem like a fantastic way to get a waterproof eyeshadow in a great to go format.
  • Preorder: 1 time shipment | Auto Delivery in January & May I actually cancelled my last Share the Love AD so I could get this.
  • September 23rd:  A220348

More pictures as soon as I get them!  I look forward to sharing the goodies once I get them.

Happy glossing!

Feeling Fiendish

I hate to admit it, but I don’t even watch True Blood.  But when I saw this collection come out, I knew I had to have it – because I am a True Believer.  In tarte that is!

Tarte Cosmetics was founded in 1999 by Maureen Kelly, who wanted to find healthy, good for you and fabulous cosmetics.  With its high performance naturals, no parabens, phthalates, or other unpronounceables, I love that tarte is good for you and good for the earth.

This collection is simploy stunning.  With 17 full size shadows in a rather Jean Paul Gaultier-esqe leather case all laced up, i’ts a steal at $52 (normally 10 pan palettes are $44).  Included in the kit are a trial size lifted natural eye primer, a full size blacker than black emphasEYES aqua gel liner, and a mini lights, camera, lashes mascara.  Have I mentioned that this is my go to mascara right now?  Love it!  These little beauties include the Amazonian Clay in the shadows, and they work double duty healing and treating as they beautify you.

These colors, like all in the tarte line, are packed with pigment, and rich and creamy, gliding on the skin.  My only fault with them is that, like many pressed powders, you waste a lot of product because they are quite loosely packed, and one swipe releases entirely too much shadow from the pan.  I feel like I will wear through these very quickly because there is too much waste.

However, while wearing them, VA VA VOOM!  I went for a toned down vampy look today at the office:

Starting with Maracuja Concealer in Medium, I spot concealed some less than desirables.  This product is ridiculously full coverage.  I think the color is a bit off for me, and I might switch it up to light for my next TSV (Glow your Way to Gorgeous QVC link and REVIEW).  This is a point of contention for me, because the medium foundation is the right shade, and the shade of the other concealer – Calming Concealer – that I use is light.  But more on that later.

I also used a touch of Calming Concealer in light around my eyes, because I wanted to test them against each other.  The Maracuja concealer is both creaseless as it promises, but all full full full coverage.  The calming concealer is more like a foundation stick and has little staying power or coverage.  Too bad.

NExt up, the Full Coverage Amazonian Clay Foundation from the 8th Wonder TSV, dotted on, then blended with the famous brush to get that airbrushed look.  I finished my face with Smooth Operator finishing powder.  I love the powder for the poreless airbrushed finish, but I must say I am disappointed it did little to control the oil well on my nose.  For that I rely more on Mally’s Poreless Face Defender, since a little dab’ll do ya for hours.

On the eyes, I started with the lifted natural eye primer with Firmitol eye primer to lock those shadows on.  I am still playing with tarte’s other primer, the Amazonian Clay Eye Base, but I think lifted has won this celebrity death match round.

First up, Dusk from last to crease, a medium beige flesh tone, with Fairy, a pale pink frost, to highlight.  Glamour Me, an intense purple went in the crease and outer V, blended out with Dusk and followed by Werewolf, a deeper brown.  I used Urban Decay Corrupt to line – my all time favorte brown bronze liner – and lights, camera, lashes to complete the look.

On my cheeks, I used Park Avenue Princess bronzer to shape my face, followed by Blushing Bride Amazonian Clay 12-hr blush and let me just tell you, a TINY bit goes a HUGE way!  I packed on a bit too much and had to dust it off a bit.  This is a deep dark rose color that gives you a gorgeous summery flush if you use it right.

On my lips, I started with Lipsurgence matte in Envy, a nice rose color, followed by True Blood Red.  I cna’t tell you how much I adore these!  Envy, and all the mattes, stay on for hours without drying my ilps out.  The shiny lipsurgences don’t have much staying power but feel fantstic on and look great.

All in all, this is a huge value, and I suggest you run to your nearest Sephora, or order on line at Tarte before they are gone.  Otherwise, you might have to take a bite out of someone…

Happy glossing!

A Glowing tarte

If you have read my blog at all, or my facebook posts, you know that it’s no secret that I love tarte cosmetics.  I love everything about them, from the cheek stains to the Amazonian clay blushes.

Recently, I was lucky enough to pick up a new kit from QVC on preorder, which has more delicious goodies in it!  This kit won’t be on the air until this weekend, but the Glow Your Way to Gorgeous Collection is – just – gorgeous!

The Glow Collection contains:

What is it: An eight-piece color collection featuring waterproof and long-wearing must-haves designed to give you everything you need to glow your way to gorgeous as you discover the skin-balancing benefits of tarte’s blend of Amazonian clay and nature’s miracle–pure maracuja oil.

With this convenient Auto-Delivery plan, receive your first set promptly, with new sets in seasonal colors arriving in October 2011 and February 2012, for a total of three shipments, as long as you remain in the program.

This kit contains:

  • Maracuja Creaseless Concealer – this is a new product, and is QVC only until next year.  It’s much different than the Calming Concealer, which comes in a stick.  While I like the texture of the Calming Concealer, it really doesn’t provide great coverage.  This new Creaseless Concealer however, is thick and rich and covers it all.  It’s based on the \wonder child of the Amazon, maracuja oil – or passionfruit oil – which is said to have properties that will make you look like Marilyn Monroe.  Or at least they tout it as such.

While I really like this concealer, it is SERIOUSLY full coverage so be prepared.  I ordered Medium because that’s what I wear in tarte foundation, but it might e a touch dark.  I will keep playing with it.

  • 12-Hour Wear Clay Blush in Peaceful, a soft rose.  I currently own three of these blushes and i love love love them.  I have the Glisten, form the first 8th Wonder of the Amazon collection (a previous AD shipment), and recently purchased Blushing Bride and Blissful recently.  Love!
  • Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow in Shimmering Taupe – I haven’t used any of tarte’s cream eyeshadows, I’ve been playing a lot with otehr brands recently.  I’m still trying to work with them, but I really like this one.
  • Amazonian Clay SmolderEYES eyeliner in Fig, a plum brown- WOOO!  a perfect perfect purple brown.  It doesn’t budge!  I love the shade, it shimmers with gold light, and is a deep plummy brown.
  • Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara in Black- this is my GO TO mascara so i’m happy to have a back up!
  • Lip Luster in Sweet, a peach pink-I now own four of these!  LOVE!
  • Blush brush
  • Shadow brush
  • Sharpener
  • Makeup bag

You have the option of ordering this on Auto-Delivery, which will bring you new collection sin October and February.  I always order on AD, because I never want to be the odd man out if I miss a collection!  You can of course, cancel or delay a shipment at any time.  You can also return it if you hate it, and still get the next shipment.

This kit has a retail value of over $150, so to get it at the preview price of $50 is a STEAL.

It’s a Philosophy silly!

philosophy tsv 4/16/2011

I’ve always had fairly decent skin.  I really didn’t take care of it much, and never really had too many problems.  Until recently that is.  As I age, and as I’ve gone off the hormonal roller coast that is The Pill (shriek!  Horror!) I’ve had some nasty side effects like patchy, dry, scaly skin along with an oil slick for a nose.

In steps philosophy, the skin care line that was developed for dermatologists.  My first product was Hope in a Jar last year, which i love, and I recently purchased the Miracle Worker set from Beauty.com after watching a presentation on QVC.  WOWZAH!  After using this set a few times a week for a month, I really see a difference in my skin.  The dry flaky patches are gone, and the overall texture has improved.  So much so, that I recently bought the next step:  the microdelivery peel pads.  These are like mini peels in a pad that refresh and renew your skin.  I’ve only used them once, so stay tuned on that front…

Why am I telling you this?  Well because philosophy is having a Today’s Special Value on QVC this month.  The set includes said Miracle Worker retanoid pads, Miracle Worker Eye Cream, Miracle Worker Eye Cream, and Miracle Worker Day Cream.  All of this for $96.18.  Since I paid $110 for a set that only had the pads on philosophy.com (which comes with a solution you pour over them), the Miracle Worker Concentrate and the regular Miracle Worker moisturizer (not the spf 55 one this kit has) you are getting the eye cream for free and a bit of a boosted moisturizer.  This is a GREAT deal!  I am going to take advantage of it, even though I still have plenty of my kit left because ti’s a great value.  It’s also available on Sleazy Easy Pay which allows to spread the cost over a few months.  If you’re really in love, you can get it on Auto Delivery, so you only pay shipping on the first order (although I’m not sure about this because my other A-D do charge shipping…ah well).

Mally Mally Mally!

So I’ve been on a bit of a shopping frenzy lately, what with all the things I’ve been reading and seeing around the blogesphere.  I’ve been buying a lot of product, simply so I can test things and out and find what works for me.  Primarily, this means a LOT of Bare Escentuals, but I’ve also been digging in to other brands to find out what works for my skin, and what stays on my face.

I’ve got some persnickity skin you see; it’s winter, and it’s dry and chilly.  Yes, even us San Francisco types get cold!  Granted, 35 degrees is about as chilly as we get usually, but still…as a result my face has several dry, flakey patches, but an oily nose and T-zone.  This makes it complicated to find the right products!  My biggest challenge is finding eye makeup that stays put.  Crayon / pencil type liners always end up on my cheeks, usually a few minutes after I apply them.  I’ve also been experimenting with eye primers, but that’s a story for another blog post.

Recently, I read a preview of the Mally Beauty Today’s Special Value (TSV) somewhere – I honestly can’t remember where, and I figured what the heck, I’ll check it out, because Mally claims her eye makeup is “bulletproof”.  This is exactly what I need!  I went ahead and ordered the kit on pre-sale and waited anxiously for it to show up.  This week, it finally did.  I’ve been wanting to try some Mally products for a while, and ordered the Poreless Face Defender in January to try it out.  I’m still playing with it, but I do like the mattifying effects it has on my face.

After my usual foundation, I started in with the Mally Share the Love TSV has 10 pieces, and was $59.94 when I purchased it.  I opted for Auto Delivery, and will get new collections in July and November.  The first collection includes:

  • Eye Amplifying Shadow Liner in Chestnut (a brown shade)
  • Lip Magnifiers in Punch (pink) and Blush (sheer pink)
  • Illuminating Blush in Pink Satin
  • Poreless Perfection Shaded Skin Finisher
  • Evercolor Automatic Eyeliner in Deepest Brown
  • Two Volumizing Mascaras in Black
  • Double-ended 24/7 blush brush
  • Mini kabuki brush
  • Sharpener
  • Organza pouch
  • Kindness is the New Black tote

For my eyes, I completely forgot to put some primer on (which was my mistake and might impact this review – so I’ll follow up with a primer).  So this is really a good test, beginning with the Evercolor Eyeliner.  At the moment, this product only comes in kits.  I really like this color, a deep dark brown but not black.  Because it’s an automatic pencil, it’s very thin, and easy to get right down on the lashline.  My only issue with this, is that it started to smear a bit before it set, but that’s no biggy.   Next, I added the Eye Amplifying Shadow Liner in Chestnut.  This is a fat pencil, which is a brand new product (only available in this kit right now), in a shimmering bronze/brown.  I love this color!  It’s a bit dark for all over color for me, but I used it in the crease, and then smudged it with the smudger tip and my finger to give some definition.  Then I snuck in some of the Tarte eyeshadow in Shimmering Sand as highlighter, and blended it out with the Chestnut.  Finally, a coat of the Volumizing Mascara.  The mascara does a great job in one coat, and doesn’t clump or stick together, two things that are important to me.

Next, I added some Illuminating Blush in Pink Satin. The color is a bit bright, but once I blended it out on my cheekbones, and added the illuminator, I really liked it.  The illuminator is a whitish powder with sparkle, that I used as a highlighter on my high cheekbones and other parts of my face.  I also used it to blend out the Pink Satin blush, to look more natural like a sun kissed cheek.  I will say that the big problem I had with the blush is the brush is terrible.  One side is meant to be used with the illuminator, and looks like a large flathead foundation brush.  The other side is a small, dense, fluff brush.  unfortunately, the illuminator end of the brush just packs on and clumps with the flat brush.  The fluff brush picks up entirely too much product.  So that is a fail for me.  The color however, is a win.

The finishing touch is the worldwide launch of the Poreless Perfection Shaded Skin Finisher, which is of course – NOT A POWDER!  If you’re a Mallynista, you know that she loathes powder because it can get cakey and ashy, particularly on women of color.  I used to, back in my teens, wear such things, but now I really only wear mineral foundation or skin finishers.  This product is great!  It’s VERY similar to BE Mineral Veil in my opinion, but this has some key differences.  The Skin Finisher has several silicone derivatives, which both set your makeup and give you a luminous glow.  This product smooths over your makeup and makes your skin look polished, while evening out your pores and sealing the deal.  It’s formulated free of talc, fragrance, oils and parabens which is great for sensitive skin gals like me.  The ingredients are: Silica, Dimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Lauroyl Lysine, Chlorphenesin, Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Mica, Iron Oxides.  If you don’t know what those are, read on…It does NOT contain corn starch, which is one of the ingredients in most powders that can cause that cakey / chalky appearance.  Instead, it’s primarily a powdered silicone primer of sorts – which locks your makeup in place and smooths over the look.

So here we are, 5 hours in, and while the eyeliner is travelleing a bit (my own fault since I didn’t wear a primer) the color is still there.  There is no creasing or fading and my eyes look as good as they did this morning at 7:30!

Please ignore the lovely dark circles...I clearly need some sleep!

Would I buy it again?  Probably.  I wish that some of the products were sold separately, but at $5.90 per piece it’s really a steal.  I would definately buy the eyeliner and shadow stick again, simply for the staying power alone, I would buy it again.  In fact, I’ll get two more collections this year, so I DID buy it again!

But again, please – make these things refillable.  The blush system case could easily be reused.
