Holy Newness Batman! Just the Bare Escentuals…

Remember how I told you to hold on to your wallets for Sephora’s Friends and Family Sale coming up October 20 – November 2?  Well you might want to continue to hold them for the Bare Essentials Friends and Family Sales, set to be sometime in December.

Why should do do this you ask?

Well, my sources have informed me that there is a LOT.  I mean a MACK truckload lot of holiday sparkle this year!

To date we know of:

Now, the rumors of a Gems kit and a Months of the year have proven to be true!  I am beyond excited about these kits, and already nabbed a Box of Gems on Easy Pay.  Heck it’s the only way!
  • Box of Gems, exclusive to QVC with 10 eyecolors, 5 Buxoms and much much more!
  • A Year of Beauty, another boutique / BE.com exclusive, with 12 shades to go from month to month.

Also at boutiques and online, we will have:

  • The Golden Touch Mini Brush Collection
  • Flawless and Fearless Mascara duo
  • We also know that the RSVP kit will be another boutique exclusive, with 9 pieces for the full face.

On QVC we have:

    • Transformational Treatment Collection
    • Brush with Fame, an eye brush set
    • Out Of This World Eyeliner Trip

For Ulta there are two holiday kits:

  • The Gamourous Life Collection
  • a new High Shine Trio.
Good luck shopping and I’ll share more info as soon as I can!

Another day to glow!

If you’re like me, and you love kits, you can’t pass up an Auto Delivery option on QVC. Earlier this summer, I purchased the tarte Glow Your Way to Gorgeous kit from QVC (still available as a single kit here) and now we have some news on the next installment!

The October installment, pictured at right, will contain:

  • Maracuja Concealer (which will be sold on it’s own at QVC starting at the end of this month)
  • LipSurgence Lip Luster in Delighted, a warm peachy pink
  • Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Charisma, a golden apricot
  • Cream Shadow in Deep Sage
  • SmolderEyes Waterproof Amazonian Clay liner in Charcoal
  • Lights Camera Lashes
  • Double ended liner and shadow brush
  • finishing powder brush
  • Quilted Cosmetics Bag

Set to be delivered in early Januray, the last auto-delivery will contain:

  • Maracuja Concealer (which will be sold on it’s own at QVC starting at the end of this month)
  • LipSurgence Lip Luster in Obsession, a dark pink wine
  • Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Dazzled, a pale pink
  • SmolderEyes Waterproof Amazonian Clay liner in Brown
  • Cream Shadow in Pink Champagne
  • Lights Camera Lashes
  • Double ended liner and shadow brush
  • finishing powder brush
  • Quilted Cosmetics Bag

Jealous?  I can’t WAIT to get mine!  Tarte makes some of the most fantastic kits around.  I am collecting the blushes, and I have been wanting the powder brush for a while.

Speaking of SmolderEyes, it’s almost time for holiday gift shopping giving right?  Well Sephora has a beauty of a tarte kit on sale right now.  This limited edition kit has some colors I haven’t seen before (unless they renamed them) in:

  • Golden Beige
  • Moss
  • Violet
  • Espresso (which bears a striking resemblance to the brown above but well…)
  • Smoke
  • Golden Black

$39 for six pencils makes them $6.50 each!  A steal in anyone’s mind.  I ordered mine, did you?

Happy shopping!

Your reputation won’t be tarnished with these!

Blackmail, Busted, Caught on Tape, Wardrobe Malfunction

I love lipgloss.  We have a close, personal relationship!  In particular, I love Buxom lipglosses, MAC lipsticks, and Stila Lip Glaze.

But, there is a new kid on the block!  Well new to me anyhoo.  First, let me start by telling you how obsessed with tarte’s lipstains!  There are three different lines of the LipSurgence lip products: Natural lip luster, Natural lip tint, and Natural Matte lip tint.  I have to say, the matte has a staying power that really holds up to the word stain.  I put on HOPE this morning, had coffee, at a peace, and ti’s STILL there!  The luster is more of a true gloss, and wears off easily but I love the feeling of it.

All three have a delicious minty feeling and taste, and are formulated to provide moisture your lips.

So with that said, I am happy to announce that the Bare Escentuals Buxom franchise is back with another new proudct!  This one seems like a great combination of my favorite Buxom Lip Glosses, and the Buxom Lip Sticks (in a pencil).

The Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Tarnishes claim to be a lip plumping and moisturizing lip stain.  Hrmm sounds familiar right?  Didn’t I just describe tarte’s lipsurgence?  Well yes, but…wait there is more!  Buxom’s primary franchise is the Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish, those tingly little lipglosses.  Then, there are the Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Sticks, a lipstick in a pencil with that same Buxom tingle.  But now, there are the Lip Tarnishes!

According to the company,

Buxom® Big & Healthy™ Lip Tarnish takes color to a new level. It tints like a stain, shines like a gloss, moisturizes like a balm, and plumps like nobody’s business. Your full color and shine isn’t going anywhere. Lips remain soft and supple thanks to an infusion of emollients and vitamin E for lasting moisture. The cooling and tingling sensation reminds you that your pout looks plumped to mega-proportions. A built-in sharpener keeps your creamy pencil perfectly prepped for whatever shenanigans arise.

As with any Bare Escentuals product, there are no parabens, phalates, or other ickems.  The first four colors are all very different, and I think I might be in love!

  • Blackmail is a blackberry black cherry purple
  • Busted – a bold red I’m proud to wear
  • Caught on Tape – A bright fuscia in the tube
  • Wardrobe Malfunction – a 60s pop of bubblegum pink

I adore lip products that moisturize and feel good, but also pack color punch.  That would be why I am growing my collection of the tarte lipsurgances.  The matte versions of the tarte product last for quite a while on my lips ,but are still moisturizing.  The glossy versions don’t last but are also moisturizing.

The Buxom version does pack a mighty wallop of color.   The darker colors really do stain, and last for several hours.  They are also moisturizign and feel great on your lips, with that tell tale Buxom Tingle.  Plumping?  Well maybe not.

I love these new sticks, and for $18 compared to the $22 tarte price tag for the same amount of product, these are a great addition to you lip arsenal.  My only complaint is that the bulky built in sharper makes the pencils unbalanced and can be difficult to control.  Take the sharpener out, and it’s a compact pencil perfect for your purse.  I just wish they came in a twist up instead of a pencil you need to sharpen, because you really waste a bit of product trying to get it to a place you can apply.

I can’t wait to see more color selections of these!  They are not a replacement for the Buxom lipsticks, which really are lipsticks and quite opaque, but rather a long lasting more pigmented gloss in a stick.  Winner winner!

You won’t be disappointed.  These are a Sephora exclusive, so get down to one and try today!  Don’t foreget ot use ebates (affilliate link)  to save 4%-12% (amount varies).

Happy Glossing!

Happy Anniversary!

That’s right, it’s Urban Decay’s 15th Anniversary!  They have been celebrating all year with limited edition sets of gorgeousness, and this time around it is the 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection.  This limited edition palette has 15 all new shades, and it served up in a beautiful metal container, with a filigree cover, in a velvet box.

I am in LOVE with this set!  The colors, like all UD shadows, and silky and finely milled.  They are super highly pigmented and have fantastic color payoff in the darker shades.  Some of the lighter shades are hard to see and are a bit of a let down, but that’s a minor gripe.

This palette is $55, but you can hope for a sale.  It’s currently sold out at Sephora, but still available at Urban Decay.  The all new shades are, from top left down:

Column 1:  Midnight Rodeo, Midnight 15, Vanilla, Flow, Chase

Column 2:  Tainted, Junkshow, Omen, Evidence, Deep End

Column 3:  Deeper, M.I.A, ACE, Blackout, Half Truth

I am still exploring Urban Decay, but I am loving the staying power of the products.  From the 24/7 shadow pencils & Liners, to the coveted Naked Palette, they delivery.

Please ignore the double chin…and the frizzy hair.  egads!

Today I wore Midnight 15 all over my lid, with Half Truth in the crease,  I blended out with Vanilla, and used Stray Dog 24/7 liner over MUFE’s Diamond Black Purple liquid liner.

Buxom Lip Tarnish in Busted on lips.

Summer in Paris!

I’ll admit it.  I am a sucker for the pretties.  I can’t resist a gorgeous color palette!  So, when fellow blogger Laura from My Newest Addiction showed of her NARS haul, I decided I needed to get my hands on the limited edition, once vanished from cyberspace, Pleasures of Paris eye palette.

I’m no stranger to NARS, as I had a makeover at Sephora for my bday a few years ago and hauled the famous Orgasm blush before it was a thang.  I love the rich creamy texture and high color pigment of the products, and if I hadn’t killed my eyeshadow in a shatter accident…anyhow, fast forward.

I ordered the Pleasures of Paris (Douceurs de Paris) palette from NARSCosmetics.com where it retails for $55 (yow!).  However, since I had a super secret code, I got 20% off and free shipping.  This palette includes six simply stunning shades of shadow, from creamy highlighters to deep rich plum.  I love the texture of these products; they are silky smooth and go on like buttah!

From the website:

Top to bottom, dry then wet: Demon Lover, Cordura, Fez, Nepal, Abbysinia, Violetta

From top left: Nepal, Violetta, Demon Lover Bottom row: Fez, Abyssinia, Cordura

A perfect amalgamation of delicate shadows, shimmering accents, and deep colors is brought to life in this breathtaking eye palette. Sweep lids with the earthy neutrals and floral hues of this enchanting collection. Dust the lavender and shimmering rose shades to brighten, and layer with a delicate pearl sheen for ultra femininity. Build color for a more dramatic effect with the attention grabbing indigo or invoke a sultry persona with the velvety cocoa.

These shadows are stunning on.  They are highly pigmented, and while they do dust up a bit (my pet peeve with pressed shadows) they go on packed with color.  They do not mix well with water, so I would recommend if you prefer to use them wet that you use a primer or mixing medium on your eye first, then apply the color.

I can’t wait to try these, and to get my hands on more NARS!  I think I’ve found a new fetish!  I have yet to do an eye look, but since I picked up the NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, I look forward to trying the combination.

Dare to go Naked! **GIVEAWAY OPEN UNTIL AUGUST 31st**

Naked, nude, natural, neutral.  Any way you look at it, the naked look is in, and it’s hear to stay.  The classic every day looks you can get from any neutral palette, and the vampy evening looks they can morph in to make these all in one kits fabulous ways to carry you makeup counter with you.

I personally have and am madly in love with the Urban Decay Naked Palette.  I really love it.  Really.  That little 12 pan palette doesn’t look like much when you spy it on the Sephora shelves, but it packs a mighty punch.  These shadows have excellent coverage and pigmentation, and go on creamy and smooth.  The addition of a super high quality brush, that doubles as a crease brush when on it’s side, plus a little UDPP makes this a great value.  I purchased this from Sephora and is my go to kit for travelling because I can make so many looks out of it.  I pack my favorite UD 24/7 liner (Corrupt) with me, and bit of mascara and I’m off!  With a dozen colors but limitless combinations, you can be mild and meek or vampy and vivacious!

That doesn’t. however, stop me from coveting some of the competitors:

Feeling Fiendish

I hate to admit it, but I don’t even watch True Blood.  But when I saw this collection come out, I knew I had to have it – because I am a True Believer.  In tarte that is!

Tarte Cosmetics was founded in 1999 by Maureen Kelly, who wanted to find healthy, good for you and fabulous cosmetics.  With its high performance naturals, no parabens, phthalates, or other unpronounceables, I love that tarte is good for you and good for the earth.

This collection is simploy stunning.  With 17 full size shadows in a rather Jean Paul Gaultier-esqe leather case all laced up, i’ts a steal at $52 (normally 10 pan palettes are $44).  Included in the kit are a trial size lifted natural eye primer, a full size blacker than black emphasEYES aqua gel liner, and a mini lights, camera, lashes mascara.  Have I mentioned that this is my go to mascara right now?  Love it!  These little beauties include the Amazonian Clay in the shadows, and they work double duty healing and treating as they beautify you.

These colors, like all in the tarte line, are packed with pigment, and rich and creamy, gliding on the skin.  My only fault with them is that, like many pressed powders, you waste a lot of product because they are quite loosely packed, and one swipe releases entirely too much shadow from the pan.  I feel like I will wear through these very quickly because there is too much waste.

However, while wearing them, VA VA VOOM!  I went for a toned down vampy look today at the office:

Starting with Maracuja Concealer in Medium, I spot concealed some less than desirables.  This product is ridiculously full coverage.  I think the color is a bit off for me, and I might switch it up to light for my next TSV (Glow your Way to Gorgeous QVC link and REVIEW).  This is a point of contention for me, because the medium foundation is the right shade, and the shade of the other concealer – Calming Concealer – that I use is light.  But more on that later.

I also used a touch of Calming Concealer in light around my eyes, because I wanted to test them against each other.  The Maracuja concealer is both creaseless as it promises, but all full full full coverage.  The calming concealer is more like a foundation stick and has little staying power or coverage.  Too bad.

NExt up, the Full Coverage Amazonian Clay Foundation from the 8th Wonder TSV, dotted on, then blended with the famous brush to get that airbrushed look.  I finished my face with Smooth Operator finishing powder.  I love the powder for the poreless airbrushed finish, but I must say I am disappointed it did little to control the oil well on my nose.  For that I rely more on Mally’s Poreless Face Defender, since a little dab’ll do ya for hours.

On the eyes, I started with the lifted natural eye primer with Firmitol eye primer to lock those shadows on.  I am still playing with tarte’s other primer, the Amazonian Clay Eye Base, but I think lifted has won this celebrity death match round.

First up, Dusk from last to crease, a medium beige flesh tone, with Fairy, a pale pink frost, to highlight.  Glamour Me, an intense purple went in the crease and outer V, blended out with Dusk and followed by Werewolf, a deeper brown.  I used Urban Decay Corrupt to line – my all time favorte brown bronze liner – and lights, camera, lashes to complete the look.

On my cheeks, I used Park Avenue Princess bronzer to shape my face, followed by Blushing Bride Amazonian Clay 12-hr blush and let me just tell you, a TINY bit goes a HUGE way!  I packed on a bit too much and had to dust it off a bit.  This is a deep dark rose color that gives you a gorgeous summery flush if you use it right.

On my lips, I started with Lipsurgence matte in Envy, a nice rose color, followed by True Blood Red.  I cna’t tell you how much I adore these!  Envy, and all the mattes, stay on for hours without drying my ilps out.  The shiny lipsurgences don’t have much staying power but feel fantstic on and look great.

All in all, this is a huge value, and I suggest you run to your nearest Sephora, or order on line at Tarte before they are gone.  Otherwise, you might have to take a bite out of someone…

Happy glossing!

From top, left to right

Row 1:  The Light, Fairy, Dusk

Row 2:  Dawn, Werewolf, Waitress, Nocturnal

Row 3:  Charmer, Glamour Me, Stake

Row 4:  Bayou, Telepath, The True Death, Immortal

Row 5:  Moss, Legend oops!  Missed that last one!

Back to basics

It’s been one of those weeks, where things get out of control time wise, and I slack off on my daily routine.  That, coupled with TERRIBLE allergies, and I haven’t been wearing much makeup.  Today, I make it a point to do my face and I rather like the results!

First, on my face, I have:

Too Faced Primed and Poreless primer.  I can’t say enough good things about this product; it’s my go to primer right now, and works fabulously with mineral foundation.  It has a touch of color, but just enough to even out my skin tone.  The texture smooths out my fave and make it foundation ready, while controlling the oil slick on my nose. $30 at Sephora + more

Editors note:  Please forgive me.  I’ve been referring to this as Benefit’s P&P!  User error!

Bare Escentuals Original Foundation in Light.  I decided that I really loved the way my face looked after my last Master Class, so I’ve been using more Original than Matte lately.  It adds a glow and lightness to my face.

Laura Gellar Real Deal Concealer in medium.  I’m still trying to decide what is my favorite concealer, but my face felt like it needed a more creamy product today.

Bare Escentuals Blush in Smitten, a beautiful poppy pink.  Just a smidge goes a long way on the apples of my cheeks, swept up tot he hairline and blended.

Bare Escentuals All Over Face Color (AOFC) in Healthy Radiance.  I used this instead of a bronzer, because the color is close to a bronzer but it adds a bit of shimmer.  I blended this in to the blush, and swept it on where the sun hits my face.  Honestly, I was planning on wearing Benefit Dallas, but I couldn’t find it!

On my eyes I have:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  This is my go to eye prmier right now, since it doesn’t make them look dry or cracked, and doesn’t irritate.

I patted on Bare Escentuals Enlightened, a golden cream shimmer color, on my lids, and buffed it up to the brow.  Enlightened is a BE Cares eyecolor, which supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services.

Then I added Demure, a medium deep purple in the outer 1/3 of the lid.  This was a color in my latest BE Eye Club shipment, and it’s gorgeous.  But then again, I am a sucker for purple.

For added depth, I added a bit of High Shine Moonshine over the Enlightened on the lid.

Then, using High Shine Vapor (in the pot from the Shimmer & Shine kit, not hte one in a tube) I wetlined, finishing with tarte LIghts, Camera, Lashes mascara (my favorite).

On my lips, I used a touch of Vanessa full color Buxom.

Voila!

I’m glad I got back to my routine today, because I love the way ti came out.  A bit of sparkle, subtle and work apprpriate.

Happy glossing!

Rose Red, Blood Red, True Blood!

Now, I’m not so in to the vampire thing myself, but I have to say – this is a pretty awesome kit!  Inspired by True Blood, the HBO take on the vampy trend, this limited edition set from tarte is GORGEOUS!  Now, if you’ve been reading here, you know i LOVE LOVE LOVE tarte.  They are all natural, paraben free, and yummy products and I’ve been building up my collection.  I think I will have to snag these – even though I need more makeup like a hole in my head.

These little beauties are ONLY available for Beauty Insiders, so if you’re not a BI – sign up now!

1.  Eye Palette with 17 (holy cow!) eye shadows, and a sneaky pull out drawer on the bottom with a black black black aqua gel eyeliner, a big ole Lights! Camera! Lashes! Mascara (a personal fave) and a Lifted Natural Eye Primer to keep it all in place.  $52

These are bound to create a very dramatic look.  The eyeshadows look gorgeous and soft, like most of tarte’s shadows.  They are VERY pigmented and a little goes a long way.  The Lights Camera Lashes is a FANTASTIC mascara, that I love.  I don’t know about the primer yet, but the Aqua Eyes liners are some of my faves too!  This is a RIDICULOUS value since they are full size shadows.

2.  Redder than red, blood red, cheek stain.  I have two cheekstains that I adore.  I’m still playing with them, but they last forever!   A little goes a long way and they really last.  Set them with an Amazonian Clay blush and you’ll glow for DAYS!  $30

3.  Rose red, blood red limited edition LipSurgence lip tint.  I am addicted to these!  I have the shiny ones, the regular ones, the matte ones.  The darker shades are true lip tints, and they stay put for hours.  I love those!  A deep dark red is perfect for a smoky light eye and those hot nights out.  $24

Tarte

I feel so…tarnished!

Do you see what happens when you read beauty blogs in your spare time? Yowzah!  It looks like the Buxom Babes are up to it again, developing new products so we just can’t say no (or wait for a sale).

Recently, I’ve fallen in love with Buxom (A Bare Escentuals Brand) Stay There Eyeshadows, a dry cream formula with high shine that “stays put”.  You are probably already aware of my obsession with Buxom lip glosses.  I might not have them all, but I love them and wear them every day (and night, much to the joy of my significant other).

Now, they creative team behind the brand has come up a new lip product:  Buxom Lip Tarnish Plumping & Moisturizing Lip Stains.  These will be available exclusively at Sephora (as all the Buxom line will be) and are initially priced at $18 with four color selections.  I would bet that in BE Buxom tradition, a smaller version will be available as a set for holiday gift giving.  These little beauties promise to treat your lips royally by tinting them, giving them shine, hydrating them, and well…plumping them.  It IS a Buxom lip product after all!

DO WANT!
