Bare Escentuals

Ho Ho Ho! The HOlidays are here!

If you’re like me, I’ve been overwhelmed with all the holiday newness and it keeps rolling in.  Luckily, there are plenty of sales to take advantage of, and you can slowly build your holiday collection over time.  That said, it’s the time of year when the Auto Delivery selection from QVC becomes overwhelming.  Specifically, Bare Escentauls is offering the first auto delivery Today’s Special Value that contains a Ready Shadow Compact.

I got your attention with that did I?

But wait!  There’s more!  Not only do you get a brand new, QVC exclusive Ready Duo in Golden Irish & Azure Iris, you also get two more brand spanking new products that have not launched yet.

First, there is the new Round the Clock Eyeliners.  While these are available in the RSVP and Away We Glow holiday kits, there are not yet available elsewhere. I  am super excited about these because if you are like me, I cannot use the B&B eyeliners because they are quite emollient and drip down my face.  My current addiction to UD 24/7 liners and Mally liners might be broken if these are anything like they promise.  In this  kit you get not one, but two liners – 10pm, a mocha color and Noon, a navy.

Next, we have a brand new lip gloss called Marvelous Moxie.  Leslie has been teasing us with this product on Facebook for a couple of months, but it will be great to add a new formulation to my collection.  I love my Buxom glosses, but I am not a fan of the 100% Natural Lipglosses.  I hope these hold up!  You will be getting two glosses, Wild Peach and Daredevil.

Let’s round out the kit with Rose Gold Radiance, a take on Rose Radiance with more shimmer for those holiday parties; you also get a shadow brush, a face brush and a bag.

Oh la la!

The best part, is that the TSV price is only $49.98 on early ordering and – there is Sleazy Easy Pay available, making this kit a bit over $20 (3 payments) which is easy for me to absorb; I will get off my butt 2 days a week and I’ve more than paid for that by not paying for parking.  You will also get new kits in April, July and October with new colors, to round out your READY collection.

Considering that you get a shadow duo, 2 liners, 2 glosses, an AOFC AND brushes, it’s a steal!

I can’t wait to get mien and share more with you!

Holy Newness Batman! Just the Bare Escentuals…

Remember how I told you to hold on to your wallets for Sephora’s Friends and Family Sale coming up October 20 – November 2?  Well you might want to continue to hold them for the Bare Essentials Friends and Family Sales, set to be sometime in December.

Why should do do this you ask?

Well, my sources have informed me that there is a LOT.  I mean a MACK truckload lot of holiday sparkle this year!

To date we know of:

Now, the rumors of a Gems kit and a Months of the year have proven to be true!  I am beyond excited about these kits, and already nabbed a Box of Gems on Easy Pay.  Heck it’s the only way!
  • Box of Gems, exclusive to QVC with 10 eyecolors, 5 Buxoms and much much more!
  • A Year of Beauty, another boutique / BE.com exclusive, with 12 shades to go from month to month.

Also at boutiques and online, we will have:

  • The Golden Touch Mini Brush Collection
  • Flawless and Fearless Mascara duo
  • We also know that the RSVP kit will be another boutique exclusive, with 9 pieces for the full face.

On QVC we have:

    • Transformational Treatment Collection
    • Brush with Fame, an eye brush set
    • Out Of This World Eyeliner Trip

For Ulta there are two holiday kits:

  • The Gamourous Life Collection
  • a new High Shine Trio.
Good luck shopping and I’ll share more info as soon as I can!

It’s Perfect!

September marks the changing of the seasons, the start of fall, and, sadly, the last Auto Delivery shipment of Bare Escentauls’ The Perfect Gift.  It was a little bitter sweet to see the last kit arrived, but in true BE form, it was beautiful!

Packaged in the trademark The Perfect Gift style, a cute hatbox showed up with:

  • Silver Lining eyeshadow, a medium grey silver shimmer
  • The Bright Side eyeshadow, a pale yellow linen matte
  • Rosy Outlook blush, a bright pink rose, which looks like a baby’s blush
  • Midnight Moon eyeliner, a deep dark blue
  • Fearless Pretty Amazing Lipcolor, a pinkish natural nude
  • Tinted Hydrating Mineral Veil
  • Full Defintion Flawless Mascara
When I first saw other gals wearing this kit, I knew I’d love it.  I haven’t broken in to my PG2 or 3, because the colors turned me off a bit, but now I know I need to.
For this look I started with Missha Cho Bo Yang BB Cream in #2 Calm Beige, followed by BE Fairly Medium in original.  I skipped primer, in order to test the wearability of the BB cream.  Fortunately, it was a great primer, foundation, moisturizer and cover in one!  See my full revie here.  The result was a flawless face to start with!
On my eyes, I used Bright Side from lash to crease dry, and then foiled  on the lid.  Silver lining was added on the outer third up in to the crease.  Finally, to add a bit of definition, I used Queen Tiffany Matte in the crease and lined with Buxom Lashliner in Suede, with Benefit They’re Real Mascara.
On my lips, Fearless Pretty Amazing was followed by Holly Buxom.  Love it!
This is my favorite Perfect Gift Shipment.  I really liked the first one, however I think the colors of this kit suit me more.  It can me worn as a smokey eye, or you can make it a simple day time look.
All in all, I’m glad I got in on this AD and I can’t wait to see the next one that is coming up sooN!
Happy Glossing!

I’m in the nude for…

Bare Escentuals!  Last weekend, BE was on QVC for a marathon of shows.  Included in the QVC exclusive kits was Nude Attitude, a 5 piece neutral kit which include the coveted (and hard to find) Nude Beach Matte eyeshadow.  Also included were a Charbronze Big & Bright eyeliner, In the Nude Matte eyeshadow,  100% Natural Lipgloss in Nude, and Applause Blush, a deep nude canyon color for $36.  Unfortunately, it sold out on the air.  I expect that some of the components will show up again (Charbronze is open stock for example) given the popularity, but I am glad I snatched this one up!

Nude is HOT right now!  You probably know this, but I love my nude kits, including the UD Naked Palette and other nude looks.  They are the easist to master, and are fairly goofproff, as well as great for every day.

This kit arrived a few days ago, and I decided to pop it up a little today with Queen Tiffany Matte, Celestine, and Pretty Amazing in Free Will, a pink nude, with Starr Buxom over it to give it a touch of color.  Healthy Radiance to contour, and the new Advanced Clear Radiance over Golden Fair Matte foundation.  This gives me a nice golden glow, which looks healthy without tanning.

Wowzah!  This could be my new everyday look, with various color changes for the countour crease.

What do you tink?  How do you nude?

  • Nude Beach Matte is a soft sandy matte nude – foiled on the lid.
  • In the Nude is a deep brown nude – in the crease.
  • Queen Tiffany Matte is a chocolate plum nude – in the outer v and over In The Nude on crease.
  • Celestine is a sparkling champagne nude -used to blend.
  • The Sure Thing is an almost matte plum brown – wetlined.
  • Turn On – is a pink nude highlighter – used on browbone and inner corner.

Fall in to this!

Get your selves ready beauties!  August and September are going to be busy months for makeup newness.

You already saw the Bare Escentuals shows this past weekend.  Well hold on to your hats!  Today is the pre-sale of the Smashbox TSV.  If you’re a Smashbox fan, I’ve been told you shouldn’t miss it!  I’m still on the fence, what do YOU think?

Smashbox Ready For Your Close Up

  • Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder – I haven’t tried the Halo yet, but people that have seem to love it.
  • Eye shadow quad in On Stage.  A similar trio pictured at right

  • Red Carpet Radiance Palette (MatteFlushShimmerFlushMatteRaspberryShimmerRaspberryShimmerQuartz)

  • Lip glosses in Hot Shot, a shimmery pink, and Idol, a rosy plum
  • Waterproof Shadow Liner to Go chubby pencil in Luminous Fig, a chocolate plum that looks more brown than the tarte Fig EmphaEyes that came in a recent TSV.
  • Halo Baby Buki Brush

It is a bit of a pricy TSV at $74.94 and I’m still on the fence,  But when you look at the retail cost for Halo ($59) and the Red Carpet palette $42, you are already beyond hte TSV.  Add in the other pieces and the retail value is well over $100.  I”ve seen and read many reviews by other beauty bloggers, and it seems that if you are in to Smashox, these TSVs are not to be missed!

September 9th Laura Gellar is having a TSV but she’s keeping it pretty hush hush for now.  The Insider says it’s a 6 piece Bake Sale Collection, so I might have to skip it with my other collections but we’ll see as soon as we get pictures!  I have been falling in love with my Laura Gellar Vanilla Nudes kits, and the eyeshadows are to die for!  They are the most pigmented, beautiful things I’ve seen n a while.

The big news comes with a Mally TSV later in September.  The Mally Defend Your Beauty Collection brings back the travel size Poreless Face Defender (YAY!) my favorite anti shine weapon.

Also included:

  • **NEW** Face Defender Blushin Pink Perfection.
  • **NEW** Face Defender Highlighter in Gorgois Glow
  • Volumizing Mascara in Black
  • Volumizing Lip Gloss in Flirty
  • Evercolor Automatic Eyeliner in Black Cherry
  • Evercolor Shadow Stick in Violet – I can’t wait to try the shadow stick!  I’ve been eyeing them for a while, and they seem like a fantastic way to get a waterproof eyeshadow in a great to go format.
  • Preorder: 1 time shipment | Auto Delivery in January & May I actually cancelled my last Share the Love AD so I could get this.
  • September 23rd:  A220348

More pictures as soon as I get them!  I look forward to sharing the goodies once I get them.

Happy glossing!

It isn’t easy being green!

Or is it purple.  Or is it green.  It’s really tough to describe Bare Escentuals new coored eye primer, Urban Nature.  It looks green at first glance, but then you get iridescenat purple and pink tones.  LOVE!

You probably know about the original, brightening, shiny, gold plated and iced Prime Time For Eyes primer, but these latest incarnations are more like a cream shadow with extra oomph.

They claim :

provide vivid, rich, light-reflective metallic color in a lightweight texture. Wear these unique primers alone or try them layered with your favorite bareMinerals Eyecolors for more intense color and infinitely gorgeous possibilities. Perfect for those with oily lids, uneven skin-texture or anyone who experiences creasing and fading.

I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to use it, so I did a quick google search and came across a look that one of my favorite beauty bloggers Phyrra did.  I’ve been following her blog for about 8 months now, and she goes from mild office gal Friday looks, to gorgeous color popping going out looks.

MUFE #7

Urban Nature

So I started this look with a dab of Urban Nature, blended out on the outer 2/3 of my lid.  Then, I patted Meow Cosmetics Astral Projection, an iridescent shimmering grey, purple, crystalish non color, in my inner 1/3 and also highlighted with Astral.  Then, I lined with Make Up Forevers Aqua liner #7 (Diamond Black Purple) and blended a bit out with BE Celestine, finished with Benefit They’re Real mascara.  Can I just say that I am in LOVE with the MUFE liquid liners?  They are gorgeous and come with a fine point applicator that lets you give very precise control.

It’s now 6:30pm, and my eyes stayed pretty much put all day.  I didn’t experience any creasing, and the color stayed fast and true.  I’d say that they lived up to the claim!

  • Does it do what it claims? YES, it really delivers stay there color!
  • Does it have good color payoff? YES
  • It it a good value? Sort of.  At $18 for .1 oz, it seems overpriced, especially compared to the Clinique Lid Smoothie which is $1 more for more than twice as much.

Even though it’s a touch pricey, with a coupon or sale, you will get a steal.  I also purchased Chroma Violet, a shimmering purple, which I have yet to try.

What do I think?  Go try it!

I love the way this turned out!  Thanks Phyrra for the inspiration ;-)

I feel the vibe!

If there is one thing I can’t resist, it’s a deal!  I’ve had my eye on this kit for a while, and when a friend was headed to a Bare Escentuals outlet, I asked her to pick it up for me.  WOWZAH!  I was lucky to hit a sale that the outlet had, making the once $35 kit from QVC (which, for two eyecolors, a blush,a nd a liner, is still a deal) about $12.  Steal!

This kit contains:

  • mini Light Show, a creamy sparkle
  • mini Smoky Violet, grey purple
  • mini B&B liner in teal, makes your eyes POP!
  • E/S size Haute Pink Blush , a bright azalea pink
  • Plumtini lipgloss, a dark cranberry, pinky beauty but very sheer.

As I said, this is a fantastic value, but more that that you can create many looks with one kit.

For this look, I started with BE foundation.  I lined my eyes in UD 24/7 liner pencil in Electric, a shocking bright blue green, over Tarte EmphasEyes in Fig.  This was my best approximation at the Teal in the kit, and I adore the way it made my eyes POP!  Today I made my own shadow liner to be a Black Sea/Teal replacement, using Crown, Utopia (which I am sad to say landed on the floor, sob!), a bit of this a bit of that.  I think I have a great dupe, since the B&B liners don’t work for me.

Next, I foiled Light Show on the lid, buffing it dry to the crease.  Finally, a touch of Smokey Violet in the crease, and Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara to finish, with Haute Pink on the cheeks and Plumtini on the lips.
The BE Outlets are an excellent source for kits and past colors, and I highly reccomend you join Mineral Madness to have access to the stock lists.

What do I think?  BUY IT before it’s gone for good!  The shadows can go from a soft day look to a bold evening look.  The Violet can be used as a liner, or worn over a black liner for a pop of color.  The Light Show is a universal cream shimmer.  You can’t NOT have this kit.

Some items recently added were hugely popular on both QVC and at Sephora:
Gold Rush Kit, Naturally Luminoius, Brush with Genius.

Happy shopping!  I mean glossing…

Eye Wish!

Today, I’m working from home but I decided to go bold anyway.

I started with Bare Escentuals Prime Time primer (regular) and Matte Foundation in Golden Fair.

Then, I used Benefit Dallas boxed bronzer, and BE Smitten blush, a pale delicious pink.

On my eyes, I used Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden, followed by the I Wish Collection by Bare Escentuals.
The colors in this collection POP!  One of them in particular, Lucky Penny, has been unavailable for months and was a cult favorite amongst BE addicts.  For $26, you get all three full size colors which is a steal.

I started by patting Dandelion, a pale yellow shimmer all over my lids, buffing it up to just above the crease.
next, I added Lucky Penny, a deep copper with purple gold undertones, in the outer 1/3 and crease.

I added Buxom Lashliner in Leatherette first, and then I wetlined with a deep blue green shade called Shooting Star, and used Sydney (from the Destination Sydney kit, a pale sand matte) to blend the colors.
Finally, I added Buxom Mascara and Pretty Amazing Lipcolor in Savvy. Savvy was previously only available in a kit, but now can be found at Nordstroms and soon at boutiques.

Happy Friday and happy glossing!

Time to get Bare!

It’s that time of year again!  Time to celebrate fatherhood, time to get your toes in shape for summer sandles, and…

Time for the Bare Escentuals Friends & Family Sale!  This bi-annual event falls on the heels of the mineral makeup brand’s 35th ANniversay celebration, and saves you a whopping 20% off in store or online.

Get to it!

What will you buy?

Gettin’ buzzed!

Are you feeling it?  Bzz bzz.  That’s the buzz of a released kit from Bare Escentuals, called Buzzworthy. This kit got a ton of great press last year when it was first released, and as it was recently re-released during the May QVC shows, I decided to pick it up.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • A unique, double-ended lipstick and lipgloss duo, with Sticky Buns stick, and Muffin Top gloss (only available in this kit)
  • Well-Rested for Eyes (eyeshadow size).  Now I have at least 3 other containers of Well Rested but this little gem is a genius.  It’s a creamy yellow color, and while it started it’s life as an eyeshadow, it’s an amazing multi tasker that fights both redness and dark circles.  I have an extra large container and use it every day!  Ever had a red nose from allergies or a cold?  Well Rested is your cover.
  • Glee Radiance all over face color.  I have a large jar of Glee AOFC from a million years ago, but this is slightly different.  The Radiance is a dewy soft look, while my old Glee is more of a pop of color.  Love this!
  • High-Shine Charisma eyeshadow (only available in this kit), a pink champagne shade.  Sparkle baby, sparkle!  This is the previous packaging for the high shine formula, and honestly, I prefer it.  Those spring loaded tubes are TERRIBLE.  I will be reviewing the colors I have shortly.  The formula is not as chunky as the Extreme Glimmers, and not as creamy as the regular shadow.  It’s somewhere in between, with noticeable glitter.
  • Popular eyeshadow, a plum shimmer shade.  I’ve heard a lot about this shade, which is a reddish plum.  Some people find it a bit hard to wear, but I think if you do it right, it’s gorgeous!

All of this is $36 and is a QVC exclusive.  Considering that each eyeshadow is normally $13, and the high shines are now $16, you are getting a great value – essentially, the Glee and Lipstick are free.

Clockwise from top left: Popular, Eye Bright, Restore, High Shine Charisma

From left, foiled on bottom dry on top: Restore, Popular, High Shine Charisma, Eye Bright

Today, I started with Benefit Primed and Poreless primer, followed by Bare Escentuals Matte Foundation in Golden Fair.  I spot concealed with It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye, followed by Well Rested to hide some redness.

For my eyes, I used the flathead shadow brush to pat high Shine Charisma from lid to crease, buffing it off the brownbone a bit.  Next, I added Popular in the outer 1/3 of the eye.  For definition, I added Restore to the crease (this is from the Naturally Luminous collection), popped the inner corner with Eye Bright, and lined with Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 liner and some mascara.

I added a pop to my cheeks with original Glee, followed by a sweep of the Glee Radiance, and used the lipgloss.

I really enjoy the colors in this kit, and it can be strong for evenigns, or light for summer days.
